HP Canon x OC fanart, HATERS GONNA HATE.

Anywaaay.
I actually tried to stick to the novel's description of Neville but it ended up looking like Matt anyway. Guhh. I think his image/face as Neville is just so engrained into my brain that it's just not possible to draw a blonde Nev, which is what he actually is in the novel (ended up looking like an awkward Draco when I gave him blonde hair). I tried to draw him in a way that he wouldn't look fit (as the character is slightly chubby, or at least, not in amazing 6-pack-abs shape), so hopefully I got that part right with his baggy-ish clothing. Drew him a bit older so I gave him the same hair style that the character had in the 6th movie (Half-Blood Prince). Meh. I still thinks messy curly hair fits the character better.

I may go back later and change the colors on his vest/shirt so it looks like normal clothing rather than the uniform. Kempley is staying in her uniform, however, because she was too lazy to walk down to the dungeons to change. XD

Dragon hide gloves trololol

They were going to be in "muggle"/regular clothing but I wanted to show that Kempley is a Slytherin. I didn't give Neville a tie though. Woops.

Kempley originally had a severely derpy expression in the first sketch but I didn't want to make her look stupid (which she isn't, at least when it comes to Herbology). I don't really know what they're doing here, I suppose they're studying that plant for a lab or something. :U

The plant's design was based on the plant that Neville likes (the name escapes me at the moment), but I changed the colors and form to look more like a cactus. The vile on the side of the lopsided table is the juice that they extracted from the plant's flowers.

I didn't realize the table was derp till I scanned + colored it in....FMLFMLFML

The book actually has /real/ text on it! 8D I debated on just scribbling but I thought it'd be fun to have real text in there~ I made up the entire text (obviously) but I tried to make it as believable as a textbook...

***All the mentioned names of people and other textbooks are made up, except for Bathilda Bagshot. Dragon measles, I think, were mentioned somewhere in the actual HP series but I can't remember. Blood-burning slugs (slugs that get into your bloodstream and ignite your blood) are from my imagination, but I suppose they could have existed in the HP verse. XD

TEXT:
"Eastern Herbology: Chapter 01"
(Page one) :
Herbologists in the Eastern world were thought to have come from the ancient area of China. They began to mix both magic and naturally grown plants in order to create medications for common diseases of the time, including Dragon Measles (extremely common in China, see chapter 57 for more information), and the more life-threatening ailments that were caused by blood-burning slugs (now extinct--see “Creatures of the Earth: No More.” by Jordana Gruff).

These medications were then experimented on those who had committed terrible crimes, and were perfected till they were able to be traded with neighboring magical empires.

Page two:
They first traded these new medicinal concoctions for food and drink, but it soon became a business of sorts. Several medical herbologists became widely-known for their work and fame among the people and lesser Herbologists alike.

Much of their original work no longer exists, but there are several representations available. On the next page, you will find several diagrams and letters that were written around the time of these herbologists’ careers. They have been translated by Alberto Hunter, famous wizard historian who studied under Bathilda Bagshot in his younger days.

As far as I'm concerned, these two are canon (; they're so adorable together and they have a great storyline from what I have read.
